So, a couple weeks ago we got another dog. Crazy huh? But we just love her! She is a Giant Schnauzer. I haven't gotten a picture of her yet-but she looks just like the one in the picture above. Her name is Kai and she is almost 4 years old. We already have a 10 year old male Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier named Katch, which we also love so much. Why another dog you ask? Good question! I never thought of myself as a 2 dog owner...but here we are. It all started a couple weeks ago when I was driving home after picking up the girls from school. We were at a stop light & I look over to see this big, gorgeous dog in the back of a truck. We made eye contact & I was a goner! It was love at first sight :) When I got home I told Danny that I knew what kind of dog we would get after Katch passed away. He wanted to know all about it, but I didn't even know what that type of dog was called-I had never seen one before. So after much searching on-line, I finally figured out that it was a Giant Schnauzer. Well, Danny loved the look of the dog too. So we started researching about the breed and realized they are pretty hard to come by. We found a 5 year old male for sale in California or some puppies in Indiana. Not very promising. Then Danny says "Look on KSL just to see". So I look on KSL.com and would you believe there was a 4 year old female for sale right here in Bloomington?! It started to feel like fate, so we called the owner and had a good chat about Kai. They were extremely sad to sell her, but they had lost their house and had to move into an apartment that didn't accept pets. Sad! Danny went over to meet Kai, and make sure he wasn't allergic (but since she has hair & not fur we figured he would be fine). Well, it was love at first sight for Danny and Kai. The next thing I know Danny pulls into the driveway with a gigantic gorgeous dog in the passenger seat. This all happened within 48 hours!
Kai & Katch were not best friends at first, it took some getting used to each other. They had a couple fights, but now they are fine together. We loving refer to Katch as the 'Old Man' and call Kai 'Little Lady'-she is anything but little! We thought Katch was kind of a big dog, but Kai is twice his size! The kids have loved it & adore Kai. Kai has even brought out a playful side in Katch. He is just trying to keep up with the young beauty :) Kai is such an affectionate dog. She loves to be petted and scratched, and she even gives hugs by laying her head on your chest and snuggling right up to you-so cute!
So if you come over & hear a loud scary bark...it's just Kai. Her bark is much worse than her bite. She is a gentle giant and a great addition to our family.
